The Cosmos Arena in Samara, Russia, will dress up on Monday when the teams of Mexico and Brazil meet in the eighth-finals match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Mexico is coming
off a tumultuous defeat against its similar from Sweden, where the Mexicans
needed a victory from South Korea against Germany to reach these instances of
the tournament. El Tri finished second in Group F of Football FIFA World Cup after beating Germany 1-0 and South Korea 2-1.
Meanwhile, Brazil
is coming from less to more in this tournament. The Brazilians started the
tournament with a draw at one goal against Switzerland, but did their thing
against Costa Rica and Serbia. Neymar and company finished the Group Stage at
the top of Group E with seven points and have established themselves as one of
the favorites to win the 2018 Soccer World
Cup.
Starting, the goal for Mexico
in this tournament was always to reach the fifth game of the Football World Cup. And is that history
says that Mexico has never reached
beyond the round of 16 in a World Cup played outside of Mexico. For some reason or another, despite having reached the
Eighth Finals in each of the last seven World Cups, Mexico has not been able to
make the jump to a Quarterfinal since 1986.
Although it is fair to say that Mexico has shortened
distances to Brazil, the reality is that green-yellow is one of the greats of
world football and his recent record against El Tri proves it. In the last six
matches between the two countries, Mexico has only been able to win once. A
fact that will surely give a little confidence to the tricolor team, however,
is that their last match in a FIFA World
Cup was just at the World Cup in Brazil, where the final result was a
goalless draw in Fortaleza.
