In Austin, Ferrari returned to the path of victory, although
it was Kimi Raikkonen who knew how to temper 2 rivals of the stature of
Verstappen and Hamilton to get back on the top of the podium, something that
the Finn had not done since the Grand Prix of Australia 2013. Räikkönen thus
became the first driver in history capable of winning with V10, V8 and V6 Turbo
Hybrid engines.
Beyond the process of Hamilton being the world champion
again, the battle between Bottas and Räikkönen for third place in the drivers'
championship is undoubtedly an incentive in this final stretch of the season.
Recall that Bottas has not achieved a single victory in 2018, partly because of
team orders that favored his teammate.
Max Verstappen won in the last edition of this event and Red
Bull showed a very good image in the United States, however, it is difficult to
think that those of Milton Keynes will be a reference in Aztec lands. On the
other hand, in the middle part of the table, those teams powered by Mercedes or
Ferrari will have a clear competitive advantage over those powered by Renault
or Honda.
Technical data of the Formula One Mexican Grand Prix 2018 :
The Autodromo de los Hermanos Rodríguez has a length of
4,304 meters that will be covered during 71 laps during the race. 17 curves (10
on the right and 7 on the left) will test the skill of the drivers and the
capacity of the cars in a circuit that combines high and low speed turns with a
very long straight line.
The top speed in Mexico is one of the highest in the world.
For example, in the last edition, in the race and with the activated DRS,
speeds of close to 370 km / h were reached, almost nothing. However, the
improvement in the power of the engines and the slight aerodynamic improvements
could make this number even higher.
The third and last sector is marked by those 3 slow curves
that are made before the thousands of fans that fill the Foro Sol. This is also
the only circuit of the world in which the podium is not on the finish line,
but in another trace point.
Jim Clark, Alain Prost and Nigel Mansell are the drivers who
have more victories on Mexican soil: 2, while Lotus, McLaren and Williams, with
3, have that same award if we talk about builders. The record of pole position
and fast lap in the current design of the track are owned by Lewis Hamilton,
who was also the winner in the previous edition of the grand prize.
